Cost of offshore wind energy continues to fall

Recent auction results in the North Sea have continued the current cost reduction trend in offshore wind energy. The headline cost of electricity (in some cases ex-grid and some preparatory costs) has now fallen to below €50 per MWh (Megawatt hour = 1000 kilowatt hours). This is directly comparable to gas-fired and onshore wind costs and about half the cost of nuclear. See this press report >>
